Zoo Yoga : Billings365.com

Have you ever been curious about some of the quirky dead end streets in the northwestern part of town?

One rainy evening last week I was. ?Nearing the conclusion of our walk, my buddy and I decided to poke our noses up one last, lonely little lane.

A lady appeared on her porch while we were admiring her Westfalia van. And this lady turned out to be?Elizabeth Klarich-a yoga teacher I took a workshop from a few months back.

Conversation turned into a late dinner and further turned into an invite to do yoga at the zoo on Saturday.

If you don?t know Elizabeth, she is a long standing and excellent yoga teacher in our community. ?She teaches in many places and even has her own local tv show. ?One of her current gigs is with?Granite Health and Fitness?off of Grand near Shiloh.

Granite is partnering with?Zoo Montana?(located at the south end of Shiloh if you have not been) to bring us yoga at the zoo every Saturday morning until the weather gets too chilly! ?Today was completely free in honor of the?Big Sky State Games.? And today Elizabeth led us through an energizing and dynamic practice. We even made a few animal noises for a preschool girl who was practicing with us! ?The chosen setting was the sensory garden complete with waterfall. ?It was a wonderful spot to stretch mind and body alike. ?Understand that these are all levels classes and anyone can participate!

It got me thinking. ?I should be frequenting the zoo just to unwind. They have done some beautiful green space design and it?s very tranquil. Of course the animals are awesome too!

So back to the yoga. ?Every Saturday from 8-9 a.m., a roster of different yoga teachers will lead the community to some much needed bliss. ?Meet at the front gate for info on the chosen location of the day.

Granite members get in for free.

Zoo members get in for $2.50.

And the rest of us still get a huge deal at $5 per class.

Bonus: I met Elizabeth and some new compadres at Granite at 7:15 a.m. and we biked to the zoo. ?It was a totally great start to my weekend! Maybe biking to zoo yoga can be a weekly ritual?

Hope to see you there next Saturday!
